As the bush fires in Victoria continue to impact the lives of so many, what can we do?
This is very real for me. While thinking about all the devastation around the country, I still find myself thinking about what was my home town in central Victoria many years ago that has also been caught up in this disaster.
Now that I live in Queensland, does that make any difference? No it shouldn't, I am still connected to that community. Not just by a past physical association, but also by a common body of believers. I was encouraged to receive an email with details about how baptcare (weblink), a branch of the Baptist union was getting involved and providing another avenue for relief and aid to those victims. Is there something you can sacrifice/go without to support and encourage others? Check it out, don't get complacent.
Be aware that this is an emergency relief fund, and the appeal will close on the 15th of March.

As of the 17 March 2009 the tally of funds donated was approaching 1.1 million. This is one organisation collecting to support those in Victoria.
